Ashton United in the Community (AUITC), working together with Ashton United FC and Ashton United Supporters Association, are set to benefit from a major cash injection following the news that they have been awarded a grant of £6,120 from the Premier League Fans Fund.

The grant will enable AUITC to grow as a charity and engage with supporters of the football club, Ashton United, who play in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, and the wider community. The grant will help recruit and develop the skills of volunteers who will be deployed at Hurst Cross Stadium to make the match day experience better for all. The grant will also be used to bring new people into the club to improve community engagement.

The Premier League Fans Fund is a three-year commitment from the Premier League to fund projects and organisations which improve the relationship between fans and their clubs, the way football supporters engage with each other and fans’ experience of the game.

Alan Sneddon, Chairman of Ashton United in the Community, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the grant from the Premier League Fans Fund. Ashton United is constantly looking at improving the offer from the ‘Ashton family’ and the launch of Ashton United in the Community, utilising this grant, will undoubtedly increase the local profile of the club and charity.”

“AUITC is run independently of the football club by volunteers and will provide that little bit extra both on match days and in between. We hope to hear from local people what we can do to improve relationships between the fans, their club, and the wider community.”
