Bright future ahead for Baffins Milton Rovers FC as they unveil £50,000 stadium upgrade

Baffins Milton Rovers FC officially opened their £50,000 stadium upgrade recently (Wednesday 3 August 2016) thanks to a £33,189 grant from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the largest funders of non-league football in the country. Portsmouth FC Legend Alan Knight MBE was on hand to help unveil the improved facilities before a 5-2 pre-season win over Salisbury FC.

The grant has enabled Baffins Milton Rovers FC, whose first-team have been recently promoted to play at Step 6 in the Wessex League, to install brand new floodlights, dug-outs and spectator toilets at their Kendall Stadium home.

Funded with £5.2m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.

Louis Bell, First Team Manager, Baffins Milton Rovers FC, said: “All the staff and players at Baffins Milton Rovers FC would like to thank the Football Stadia Improvement Fund for all their support that has enabled us to achieve getting the stadium floodlit – we look forward to gaining more success in the very near future.”

Peter McCormick OBE, Chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, said: “The new floodlights at the Kendall Stadium will provide Baffins Milton Rovers FC with fantastic new facilities that are sure to improve the match-day experience of players and fans.

“The works are further proof of the Premier League’s continued investment in grassroots sport, helping to develop and progress clubs up the football pyramid. I wish the club all the best for the coming season and look forward to seeing them go from strength to strength.”
