Grimsby Town FC receive funding for stadium improvements

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), supporters of the Football Foundation, and the largest funder of non league football in the country, today announced a grant of £19,000 to Grimsby Town Football Club.

This award will enable Grimsby Town Football Club to carry out repairs and maintenance to the floodlights at Blundell Park.

Funded with £6m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.

Nick Dale, Stadium Manager at Grimsby Town FC, said: “In today’s current financial climate, we are delighted to receive this grant from the FSIF. This funding will enable us to carry out repairs and maintenance to the floodlight towers at Blundell Park, thus ensuring the continuation of football at our historical stadium until such time as a new stadium is realised.”

Peter McCormick, FSIF Chairman, said: “I am delighted that my colleagues and I have been able to award this grant to Grimsby Town FC to allow them to carry out essential repairs and maintenance at Blundell Park.

“FSIF staff work hard to make sure that the funding that is generously provided by the Premier League each year goes as far as possible and benefits as many clubs and supporters as it possibly can.”
